Our Story
Yá'át'ééh (Hello in Diné)
My name is Bah Bigman, the creator of BAASHILHOZHO. I am from the Naakai Dine'é clan, born for Tachii'níí, Tábaahí dashicheii, dóó Tłizi'łani dashinalí. This is how I introduce myself to show who my family is and where I come from. Known as Ké in Diné traditions.
I have been creating beadwork since childhood with my grandmother, Ruth Benally, who is now over a hundred years old! She made jewelry and Navajo rugs to sustain her family's steady income. One of my earliest memories with her was selling at the Big Mountain Sundance in the early 2000s.
Our Mission
Historically, beadwork plays a vital role in being a Diné. It serves to protect us in our everyday lives. My mother always told me to wear my turquoise, because that is how our deities recognize us. Today, I continue to create, to demonstrate that beading is a way of life and one way to sustain our traditions as Diné people. -Bah

At BAASHILHOZHO, I do my best to create all handmade pieces with natural stones, including various natural turquoise, Italian coral, Australian mother of pearl, high-quality freshwater pearl, Juniper berry, queen pink conch, abalone, and spiny oyster. Pieces include a wide range of styles from classic Navajo to the latest trends.
